- Animal Services Officer
Description
The Fremont Police Department is recruiting for the position of Animal Services Officer. Under general supervision, the Animal Services Officer serves as a member of the Animal Services team in providing a caring, humane environment in which to perform animal control services duties in the animal shelter and in the field; performs related duties as required.
Examples of Duties
- Investigates reports of animal welfare abuses.
- Recommends appropriate solutions to animal service requests.
- Investigates complaints and issues citations.
- Prepares investigative reports for animal bites.
- Patrols assigned geographical areas of the City during assigned working hours.
- Picks up unleashed or dead animals.
- Quarantines animals.
Requirements
Any combination of education and/or experience that has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to satisfactory job performance would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge, skills and abilities would be:
Education/Experience: Possession of a high school diploma, GED equivalency or a high school proficiency certificate and one year of experience in the interpretation and enforcement of laws or codes, preferably related to animal and/or vector control work.
Licenses/Certificates/Special Requirements:
- Possession of a Class C Driver License.
- Successful completion of PC 832 training by the completion of probation is required.
- Willingness to work weekends.
- This position is required to wear a uniform.
